100 QUESTIONS FOR AN ARTIST

01. What is your pen name?
Gecko

02. What made you choose this name?
Since I can remember this has been my pseudonym. I have little kid drawings and stories signed this. I used to use the last name "Muchentash" (pronounced "Muckintash") also xD.

03. Do you use PC or Mac?
MAC!!!

04. What programs do you use most often?
For art? I only have GIMP.

05. Do you use mouse, or tablet?
Tablet, but really I am better at traditional.

06. What color or color combinations do you find yourself using most often?
Rainbow, black and bright colors, monochrome, red and gold

07. What part of a picture do you put most effort into?
Face and it really annoys me that I tend to get lazy with the rest >_<.

08. How long does it take you do draw a picture?
Sketching is super quick for me, but coloring will take a while. Probably 6 hours for the whole thing.

09. Do you keep your rough drafts?
I don't do rough drafts D: ! ! !

10. What font do you use most often?
My own handwriting . . . like I said, traditional artist.

11. When you scan your image, what DPI do you use?
NO IDEA. Whatever the default is.

12. Do you do anything else when you're drawing?
Listen to music. Think. Facebook. Chat.

13. Approximately how many pictures do you draw in a month?
TONS of sketches. My notebooks are covered. Also occasionally I'll turn in a calculus homework with someone from my class sketched in it D:. Finished stuff, one or two D:.

14. What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?
Computer paper, or whatever's in this notebook I have.
I do like Bristol paper and have some but I don't use it often because inspiration strikes when I'm not near it .

15. What kind of paper do you use for rough sketches and drafts?
I don't do rough drafts, as I said.
Unless I'm sketching in a notebook and I am inspired to do a nice copy by it, I guess that could be considered one. So: lined paper!

16. How long does it take you to ink something?
Ah, no idea. Hour and a half, I think.
However, I tend to rush >_<. I'm really impatient when it comes to drawing and I mess up >_<. Like this one time I was erasing some extra lines on a finished drawing and I made a huge rip in it and I had to do it all over because it was a commission TT0TT.

17. Do you do comics, or fan comics?
Yes! Amber Dawn. I'm new to comics though.
I did a few for school too: Beowulf and Catcher in the Rye.
I attempted to do a manga about my orchestra once and it didn't get far.

18. Do you like comics? Are they fun to make?
I think they're both fun and tedious. I'm half and half.

19. Have you ever submitted anything to a magazine?.
I think I actually did once . . .

20. Did it get published?
No. It wasn't a drawing though. It was a design your own school supply and I made an eraser that would only erase wrong answers (because I'm always erasing the right ones on tests and such and replacing them with something else.)

21. Who are your favorite artists?
Koge-Donbo, Jackson Pollock

22. Do you like anime/manga? If so, what are your favorite series?
YES!
Pita-Ten, Fullmetal Alchemist, Loveless, Kamichama Karin, Kodomo no Jikan, Axis Powers Hetalia, etc.

23. Do you like cartoons/comics? If so, what are your favorite series?
Non-asian, I'm assuming. South Park and The Simpsons.

24. Any artists that you wish you could draw like?
Koge-Donbo, whoever did Kodomo no Jikan, various artists I've seen and can't remember their names.

25. Do you read a lot of books?
Yes

26. Did you ever buy a book to inspire or teach you to draw?
Not myself, however I will look at my manga for inspiration.
I've gotten those "How to Draw Manga/Anime" books as gifts and some were useful in the character development sense, but usually not for actual drawing.

27. Any video games you enjoy?
Wii Music! WoW, Brawl, Pokemon (but I don't have any of them ,) Ace Attorney

28. Any favorite characters from video games?
Pit, Yoshi, Bridget, Kadaj, Yuffie, Rikki, etc.
Lots from ones I haven't ever played, as you can see.

29. Do you have a favorite writer?
Vasko Popa!!!!

30. Any books you really enjoy?
Harry Potter, The Sight, Angels and Demons, The DaVinci Code, The Golden Ratio, Your Brain on Music, My Sister's Keeper, etc.

31. Do you draw fanart?
I try but I don't really enjoy it as much as drawing my own characters.

32. Do you listen to music while you draw?
I'm always listening to music.

33. Any recommended songs?

JS BACH IS A GENIUS! Who could have thought of the second violin partita! I am blown away every time I play it or hear it or think about it. AH!
As you can see I like music a lot and yes, I play the violin.

Not really. I'm also on SheezyArt but I'm not that into it. Hmm.
DeviantArt bothers me sometimes though because they delete some good stuff people put up but I guess that's their policy :/.

Well, musician.
Drawing is more of a hobby for me.
But I do sell my art and do commissions.

I plan to be a researcher. Music and the brain/psychology/neuroscience. Music research.

I also like internet, anime cons, virtual pets, fiddle, rapper and morris dancing, folk dancing, etc. I have many interests.

5-6th grade
Though I kind of always have because my dad's an artist and he was always telling me "draw what you see, not what you think you see".

Costumes, ethnic stuff, instruments that I'm not familiar enough with (wind, brass, etc,) ethnic groups, etc.

Nah I have no money .

I'm antisocial.

Moreso online than in real life! That's strange.

Yes!

No. I wish I did. I don't have the time.

There is something about you that I really admire and I for some reason I can't put it to words in my mind and I can't figure it out! It's frustrating and I'm trying to get my mind around it but I just wanted to tell you that I really admire you and I love that you're here, alive, and that I know you.
Hmm that's weird to tell someone. I'm really strange.

62. Does your mind wander when you draw?
I don't know.

63. Have you drawn poorly because you think too much?
No.
I always try to achieve this split-brain state of mind where I am drawing completely in my right brain and watching myself draw and critiquing with my left.
The one time I did it I think it was an OBE. Crazy.

Not that I know of.

School (LAME!)

Yes! I find super shoujo style really creepy!
And there's a couple non-anime I'm not so fond of.

I ruined it by drawing and writing.
I used to lay on my left arm while writing or drawing.
Bad for drawing, bad for my left eye.

SMFA and AIB programs.

But not the school I go to.
